Priorat is a region located in the beautiful middle of the catalan pre-coast mountain range, astride among Tarragona's field and the Ebre's lands. It draws a very rugged relief, marked by the presence of the Montsant Saw, with any plain and occupying the north sector of the region. It is surrounded by other high saws as well, among which excel Prades's mountains to the east.
The East face of the priorat, from Marçà to Bisbal DE Falset, was scenario of the rearguard of the Ebre's front in 1938, where the reserve camps of the troops. The hospital camps and the aerial observatories of Bellmunt de Priorat, as well as the centre of the battle command in La Figuera, were extended.
